Top 10 rules for Proper Cell Phone Etiquette
1. When out with friends, keep incoming calls short. Remember that your live friends are “on hold” until you hang up and get back to them.
2. In a group of people, don’t disrupt their ongoing conversation with your phone call. Excuse yourself and leave the area.
3. Out on a date or with a business client, go ahead let your phone go to voicemail. It’s a sign of respect.
4. Expecting an important phone call? Let everyone your with know ahead. This is a great time to use your caller id and only take the important call.
5. Need to make a quick call? Ask the people your with, “Do you mind if I make a call?”
6. During meetings, meals, theatres, and churches be polite and put your phone on vibrate. If you must take a call excuse yourself and answer the call out of ear shot.
7. Forgot to turn off your phone in a theatre, if it rings, try pressing the "end" button 2-3 times to interrupt the call then power off your cell phone. Don't attempt to answer, even whispering is an interruption.
8. If out doing errands and your phone rings, don’t try to multi-task. Stop what you’re doing.
9. If waiting in line, keep incoming call short and lower your voice level. The people around you are stuck in line and don’t need to hear your whole one-sided conversation.
10. If you have a bad connection, just tell the person your call them back when you have a better signal. Don’t shout; it just makes it fragment more.
